Overview/Description:

In the first three webinars of this series, we described the fundamental challenges faced by infusion centers across the country, outlined the basic operational factors causing these inefficiencies, and began a deep dive into how leading infusion centers are resolving those inefficiencies.

Most infusion centers measure chair utilization and available capacity for future growth incorrectly – the right way to calculate utilization and effective capacity is very nuanced. There are several key metrics related to volume, mix of treatments and appointment lengths, add-ons, no-shows, cancellation rate, early or late arrivals of patients, compliance to the optimal schedule (and dozens of other metrics) that can be automated and executed in a sophisticated manner in order to identify the root causes of operational problems and to pinpoint areas of potential improvement. The set of operational data to develop an initial assessment of the operational performance of an infusion center are fairly simple and well-defined.

Learning Objectives:

After this session, the participants will be able to:

  • Assemble the data required to conduct an intelligent diagnostic of the current state.
  • Understand the importance of getting schedulers to comply with the optimal schedule as best as they can
  • Appreciate the importance of fact-based root cause diagnostics in order to understand what happened on a specific day
